After unboxing, we see that the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro stands out for its rather conservative appearance. Indeed, the Chinese brand takes almost the same design as the previous model, making small changes.

At first glance, the 4 Pro electric scooter is much more robust than its predecessors. Crafted from aluminum, this gear is also IPX4 certified. It is, therefore, fearless of splashing water.

This electric scooter has an impeccable finish and no faults or poorly adapted reporting parts. Note the presence of reflectors on the wheel suspensions, cables, and red lines, adding a touch of originality to the whole. 

Folding this electric scooter has an excellent folding mechanism. It allows you to maneuver the scooter with one hand and easily attach the handlebars to the rear fender. Note that the handles do not bend.

Regarding its dimensions, the e-scooter is 1198 mm long and 1240 mm high with a 62-centimeter expansive deck. It weighs approximately 17.5 kg and has a maximum load capacity of 120 kg.

Although these particularities offer a certain driving comfort, more is needed. The lack of suspension is a significant handicap. It must be said that the vibrations with each passage on the paved roads are palpable. More annoying, even medium irregularities in the road cause solid jolts.

Rich in equipment

The Xiaomi Scooter 4 Pro is one of the reference models in terms of equipment. Indeed, this plant electric scooter is equipped with reflectors on both sides of the deck and at the front and rear of the vehicle. The bell is now closer to the handle, which makes it easier to use.

As for the handles, they are covered with ribbed rubber, a coating that is very pleasant to the touch. They cause no discomfort on 30-minute runs. In addition, a kickstand ensures the perfect maintenance of the scooter, although it is a bit short.

The Xiaomi Scooter 4 Pro benefits from the same control screen as the previous models. The latter displays the mode engaged (walking, eco, or sport), the speed, and the range available. Sometimes this information needs to be more precise, but the application provides excellent help.

Admittedly, the brand’s Xiaomi Home application has not evolved for several generations. But this time, the Chinese firm has decided to give it a facelift, especially regarding its interface. It is displayed once the scooter has been correctly paired with the smartphone. Admittedly, this innovation makes it more user-friendly.

The interface becomes more colorful. In addition, you have to go to the main page to access some functions, no longer in the settings.

A user experience

The Xiaomi 4 Pro electric scooter meets user expectations, except for a few details. Indeed, it gains points in terms of power. It delivers 350 W nominal and 700 W maximum. It is the fastest version in Xiaomi’s collection,

In addition, it quickly reaches the maximum speed of 25 km/h, imposed by the legislation in force. However, Xiaomi confirms that this electric two-wheeler can climb a steeper slope of 20%. 

On medium slopes, this machine does its job well. On the other hand, when the climbs become more pronounced, the recorded speeds do not exceed 17 km/h. However, this Scooter 4 Pro is particularly efficient at this level.

In addition, the accelerations are pleasant and dynamic. Indeed, this e-scooter offers well-measured power without sacrificing safety issues. Indeed, to go from 20 to 25 km / h, the accelerator lacks a bit of force but is nothing too annoying.

The only thing to note is that the front wheel, housing the engine, can spin during specific starts.

Maneuverability, but not very stable foolproof

Even though the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro has larger dimensions, it remains very maneuverable, like the previous generation’s models. The trotters will have fun sneaking down the street at 25 km/h. For stability, you have to be careful.

You should know, for example, that the handlebars tended to shake as soon as the driver removed his hand to signal his direction. On a flat surface, it manages without a problem. But when small asperities arise, it is more complicated. Finally, this model does not have a turn signal to indicate the direction you want to take.

Without claiming that this new version is unstable. On the other hand, it should be remembered that compared to an electric bike, an electric scooter is more sensitive to the roughness of the road.

Autonomy

Note that determining the exact autonomy of an electric scooter is a complex task. Indeed, it largely depends on the user. Xiaomi announces an average range of 55 km. However, during our test, the screen indicated 45 km with a fully charged battery.

Busy roads also play a crucial role in evaluating vehicle range. The battery will discharge faster when driving in a hilly city. This electric scooter travels an average of 30 km before switching to economy mode.

Driving style also influences range. In this case, it is advisable to alternate between the “standard” and “speed” modes. This versatile use makes it possible to cover a distance between 30 and 35 km for a user weighing 80 kg.

On the charging side, the manufacturer has modified the connector. Now it is magnetic. This system is more practical when you want to connect the scooter. Plus, if you accidentally get your foot caught in the cable, you cannot take the device with you. Indeed, the line can be detached automatically.

As for recharging, it takes 8 to 9 hours for it to be complete. The Xiaomi Scooter 4 Pro is one of the most durable electric scooters. Compared to its predecessors, it stands out for its 474 Wh battery.

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro: our verdict

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro uses the same principles as the previous models. However, there is a difference of 300 euros in its price compared to the classic Scooter 3. Can this discrepancy be justified? Partly yes, partly no. This model allows you to enjoy 45 km of autonomy, while previous generations had a range of 20 km.

On the other hand, this Pro version is more robust with a larger floor area, thus increasing safety. Also, on the program, an improvement in power. However, the comfort level still leaves something to be desired for 799 euros. This Xiaomi 4 Pro electric scooter is heavy and imposing, making it quite difficult to transport.

Nevertheless, this model offers a well-balanced and pleasant driving experience. You have to put up with some flaws.
